PROJECTS & PARTNERS
Kerus is excited to be working on various projects and in partnership with other agencies. The following list of organizations are key organizations that are uniquely positioned to mobilize multiple communities around the world toward positive change. Kerus has either supplied educational materials to or are in direct partnership on specific projects with these organizations.
TWR (formerly Trans
World Radio)—Founded in 1952, Trans World Radio broadcasts
radio programs in more languages than anyone in the world today.
Programs are aired in more than 200 languages and dialects. Kerus is TWR’s
“anchor partner” in a worldwide HIV/AIDS prevention initiative.
The Kerus
Radio Project has been established for mass media strategies associated
with the ITC! programs. In September 2006, Kerus and TWR
launched Grandma's Village, a 32-program radio drama series that
teaches the ITC! Youth Curriculum. This program airs in 4 languages - African English, ki-Swahili, Portuguese, and Xitshwa.
Acts2Change and Kerus work together to sustain the Kerus House of Encouragement Orphan Care Center in Soshanguve, South Africa, providing food, homework help, and care for those orphaned by AIDS. Two more orphan care centers have been established as we continue to help vulnerable children.
Samaritan’s Purse—Led by Franklin Graham, this organization chose Kerus to provide the core curriculum and training for a massive HIV/AIDS prevention program for youth in four African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique and Uganda. The ITC! Youth Curriculum was utilized as part of the Samaritan’s Purse “Prescription for Hope” initiative to combat HIV/AIDS. This project reached over 17,000 professionals and 728,000 youth.
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice in nearly 100 countries. Kerus has trained approximately 100 pastors who will reach 5,000 youth in Gulu, Uganda, with the transformational messages of It Takes Courage! In this community, we work with men and women terrorized for more than 20 years by the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army), surviving much of that time in refugee camps.
Swiss-based, House of Encouragement and Kerus partner with Acts2Change to build orphan care centers in South Africa. The ministry of HOE extends to the operation of “The Hills” a unique place where leaders in ministry can be rejuvenated and have a quiet place to retreat and do strategic ministry planning.
Global Connections is a ministry of Willow Creek Community Church, in Barrington, IL. Their mission is to serve, empower and connect churches that live out the mission to transform all areas of life through the Gospel. They serve people in Africa and Latin America who are marginalized, oppressed and under-resourced. Kerus serves as a technical partner in HIV/AIDS prevention strategies, training school and church leaders to use the ITC! program effectively. ITC! projects are active in schools and churches throughout Angola, South Africa and Zambia.
