PROJECTS & PARTNERSHIPS
Kerus is excited to be working on various projects and in partnership with other agencies. The following list of organizations are key organizations that are uniquely positioned to mobilize multiple communities around the world toward positive change. Kerus has either supplied educational materials to or are in direct partnership on specific projects with these organizations.
Trans
World Radio—Founded in 1952, Trans World Radio broadcasts
radio programs in more languages than anyone in the world today.
Programs are aired in more than 200 languages and dialects. Kerus is TWR’s
“anchor partner” in a worldwide HIV/AIDS prevention initiative.
The Kerus
Radio Project has been established for mass media strategies associated
with the ITC! programs. In September 2006, Kerus and TWR
launched Magogo’s Village, a 32-program radio drama series that
teaches the ITC! Youth Curriculum.
Samaritan’s Purse—Led by Franklin Graham, this organization chose Kerus to provide the core curriculum and training for a massive HIV/AIDS prevention program for youth in four African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique and Uganda. The ITC! Youth Curriculum was utilized as part of the Samaritan’s Purse “Prescription for Hope” initiative to combat HIV/AIDS. The goals are ambitious—train 19,200 youth workers and pastors in the four countries committed to teaching 50-100 youth each. The total project goal by 2008 is to reach 2 million youth.
Association of Christian Schools International —The
ITC! Youth Curriculum was chosen as a core curricular component
of the “Open School” project for orphans and vulnerable children
in the country of South Africa. By creating resource centers in
Christian Schools and mobilizing volunteers from the school and the churches
in an area to serve as tutors, children with no access to formal education
will be taught basic math and reading skills; health education; and character
development and life skills. The ITC! Youth Curriculum is used
to teach the character development and life skills portions of the curricula.
Southern African HIV/AIDS Collaborative — The
ITC! Youth Curriculum materials have been chosen for a
demonstration project in the Orlando East area of Johannesburg, South
Africa. This project involves organizations such as the International
Bible Society, Partners Worldwide, Medical Ambassadors and other key agencies
working together to provide jobs, train youth in HIV prevention strategies,
and care for persons and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Rise
International — is partnering with the Angolan Ministry of Education
to build much-needed schools in places where schools were destroyed during war time. To date, Rise has built over one hundred schools.
Kerus will partner with Rise in 2007 to train teachers and reach over
40,000 youth with the ITC! Youth Curriculum.
Medical Institute for Sexual Health – Kerus and the Medical Institute are involved in a joint project called ChangeMakers. ChangeMakers is a nationally recognized 2-day seminar that has been offered throughout the United States. Dr. Ball and Dr. Cerullo serve on the Advisory Board at the Medical Institute.
Campus Crusade for Christ, CrossRoads — From 1996-2005, Drs. Ball and Cerullo worked as consultants for Campus Crusade for Christ International’s CrossRoads Strategy. Kerus provided the educational arm of the CrossRoads program for nine years, playing a key role in curriculum development and designing the CrossRoads Teacher Training strategy. The CrossRoads program is active in over 50 nations and the materials are offered in 15 languages.
