PROGRAMS & TRAINING
Kerus Global Education exists to positively change lives and transform communities by equipping the church and key public and private organizations with professionally credible and biblically-based training, resources and systems to implement programs promoting character development, the prevention of HIV/AIDS and the compassionate care of children and their families suffering due to the AIDS crisis. Kerus has an unwavering commitment to mobilizing the faith-based community to be actively involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and compassionate care, reaching outside of the church and into the community to provide quality educational and care programs, regardless of religious affiliation.
It Takes Courage! is a multi-tiered educational strategy designed to permeate a community with life saving messages that will reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and other behaviorally-driven health problems. Designed by leading HIV/AIDS professionals around the world, the various Kerus educational materials have been used in over 53 nations. Programs exist for pastors, teachers, youth workers, parents and youth, and in a unique partnership with Trans World Radio, the world's largest Christian radio broadcast company, education for families is available in radio drama format.
Kerus has formed strategic relationships with key organizations to reach orphans and other vulnerable children in ways that are sensitive to their unique challenges. These children may live on the streets or in orphanages. They may live in child-headed households or are living in extreme poverty in isolated villages or in informal settlements. Kerus is committed to reach these children and tailor our educational programs in ways that will maximize their educational opportunities and meet their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
The Kerus Orphan Care Center model was launched in 2008 in Shoshanguve, South Africa. This center is a cooperative effort involving Kerus, Pulamadibogo Primary School and the Ark of the Covenant Church in the Soshanguve community, and Acts 2 Change, a South African non-government agency.
