ITC! YOUTH CURRICULUM PACKAGE
Dr. Cerullo and Dr. Ball, co-founders of Kerus, developed the It Takes Courage! (ITC!) Youth Curriculum based on more than a decade of training experience in 53 nations. This highly experiential educational tool empowers youth to live healthy, meaningful, and productive lives. Sixteen 60-minute lessons help youth develop the character, life skills, and courage they need to reach their personal dreams. Easy-to-use lesson plans allow caring adults to lead ITC! in church, school, or community settings
It takes courage to cultivate a life of good character and good decision making—the courage to say no to sex outside of marriage, courage to sacrifice for the benefit of another, courage to challenge cultural norms, courage to end stigma and discrimination, and courage to care for those sick or outcast. ITC! equips young men and women to make courageous choices for life and health.
The ITC! Youth Curriculum consists of a 16-lesson curriculum for a teacher and an optional Activity Guide and Journal for each student. Each lesson draws attention to one of 15 core character traits. The product is designed with easy-to-use lesson plans for a teacher to implement in a church, school, or community setting and is easily adaptable for use with a wide variety of ages and audiences. Kerus offers the curriculum in versions appropriate for general as well as faith-based audiences.
ITC! equips young men and women to make courageous choices for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Curriculum lessons focus on four major themes:
• Creating a vision for life
• Building healthy relationships
• Making wise decisions
• Preventing HIV/AIDS
The ITC! Youth Curriculum is led by certified Kerus It Takes Courage! trainers who attend four days of intensive training. These caring teachers and mentors are equipped and inspired to develop strong character and key life skills in youth. Through these transformational relationships, young people learn to make choices that will prevent the spread of HIV and lead to healthy, meaningful and productive lives.
